When Peder Mannerfelt commissioned Konst & Teknik to design the cover for his new “pop” record Controlling Body, there was one little remark: He actually didn’t want Konst & Teknik to design the cover but @trancepoetry, a Twitter side project run by Konst & Teknik’s Peter Ström. @trancepoetry combines lyrics from trance songs with often digitized images of sunsets, and Peder had become a fan.

In collaboration with painter and illustrator Malin Björklund (yet again), simplified images of sunsets were redrawn in gouache, and three of them selected for the record’s cover, inside, and back cover. On the front and back the title and artist are embossed, and inside the gatefold a text by Bebban Stenberg (of Astropol & Shout Out Louds) and all the neccessary info is set in fantastic Mediaeval Bold — a brilliant, chunky and underestimated typeface that really shows its glory when used big and black (well, and embossed). The typeface was picked to contrast and overlay the images easily, because of its unique blend of strange and clean characteristics, and because we’d never used it before — and actually never seen anyone else do.

The record is released through Peder Mannerfelt Produktion and can be streamed here.
