TYPO Berlin 2017 “Wanderlust”
This year (25th–27th May 2017) the theme of TYPO Berlin is “Wanderlust” and, for the twenty-third year running, it takes place at Haus der Kulturen der Welt. Since 2001, Studio Adhoc has designed the conference identity and combines two recent releases from the FontFont Library: FF Carina by Alexandra Korolkova and FF Sanuk Big by Xavier Dupré.
While Carina is prominently used in lowercase for the conference title and headlines, Sanuk Big is employed everywhere else in different styles. Both can be found all over website, signage system, programme, interstitials, tote bags, patches and more.
In Alexandra Korolkova’s high-contrast Carina, you see the influence from her lettering skills and writing with the pointed pen. Although it is not used for TYPO, there is a sophisticated Cyrillic glyph set with numerous swashes and ligatures.
Compared to the regular version from 2006, Sanuk Big has an increased x-height, shorter ascenders and descenders and includes eight weights from Hairline to Ultra.
