    A. van Wees / distilleerderij De Ooievaar is the last remaining artisanal distillery in Amsterdam. In this sturdy book (288 pages, hardcover), Fenny van Wees tells the story of the van Wees family distillery, and shares her views on distillery in the Netherlands, and the art of smelling.

    The body copy is set in Xavier Dupré’s Vista Sans. Ramiro Espinoza’s homage to Amsterdam bridge letteringKurversbrug – performs all typographic tricks, from page navigation and drop caps to lettering-inspired titling pages for each chapter.

    In stores, the sealed book is covered with a red paper wrapper with images of bottles, and blurb set in Krul, another Re-Type revival of Amsterdam lettering.

    ‘Krul’ is a typographic interpretation of the lettering style created by Dutch letter painter Jan Willem Joseph Visser at the end of the 1940s, which decorated the traditional brown bars of Amsterdam. — Re-Type
