To create the cover for Zola Star’s album Loyembo, I thought about how to dig through the image until I found a celestial body that radiated light from itself.

If Zola Star has the word star in its artistic name, and Loyembo in Lingala means song, which we can understand as melody, a word that comes from within, from a central point that expands, like a field of beauty, that produces sounds, colors, flavors, smells, an entire epistemological force employed by his aesthetics, by his way of being. An ancestry that is in the present, accessible, and that lives in each person, but that has as a transmitter of this path, a Congo-Angolan maestro who lives in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro.

In addition to being a designer, I was a bridge between many people on this album, which was a true saga, worthy of many seasons. Firstly, I wanted to thank Zola for his trust. Playing midfield among so many people is not easy, it was a task that fell into my lap, even though I didn’t want to or actually be able to, but I did my best to navigate it until the puck was released.
