“New Dream” is the only single by Italo-Disco musician Clay Pedrini, who was influenced by Giorgio Moroder and Kraftwerk. It was originally released in 1984 on Sensation Records. In 2015, it was re-released on La Discoteca (Italy) as well as on Dark Entries (US).

Bombere was designed by Carla Ward and won the first prize in an international typeface competition held by Letraset in 1973. It can be described as a typographic interpretation of the optical illusion known as Necker cube. The cover designer didn’t trust his type choice, though — and colored in the lower edges for unambiguous readability.

Harold Lohner’s digital freebie Wireframe is inspired by Bombere. The basic letterforms are derived from Franklin Gothic.

    1. See also Portsmouth / Argiers by Mike Oldfield, with a colored-in Vexier. Christof Gassner’s typeface was also among the winners of the 1973 Letraset competition.

    2. Here’s a comparison of Bombere (on light grey background) and the digital interpretation Wireframe. The latter is a little more condensed and has a consistent angle for the diagonals.
