The Festival der jungen Talente (“Festival of Young Talents”) 2022 offered students from various universities the opportunity to implement art projects with cross-university collaborations and present them in a two-week exhibition. Within the framework of this festival, concepts and ideas were initially submitted, which were then developed into final projects within six months. These ranged from performances to installations.

While in the past years the work was often done with writing and forms, for me the main focus was to represent the festival pictorially and to offer insights. Through various blurs and colorings, the tension and uncertainty of how the students’ projects will develop in the given time period should be represented here. It was meant to arouse curiosity about what was being shown while still highlighting the dynamics and nature of the work (performance, for example). The type combination of the grotesk Neue Montreal (Pangram Pangram) and Orchard Linear (Rory King), an almost handwritten asemic typeface, creates a tension between legibility and illegibility. The dynamics of the letters are reminiscent not only of a performative act, but also of notes, sketches, and drafts. The association with an unfamiliar writing system also allows the diversity of the students to emerge. The poster’s presentation is meant to visually reflect the background of the festival.
