“Familiarity lies at the heart of legibility. Interstate is based on the signage alphabets of our Federal Highway Administration, letterforms absorbed at a glance everywhere we drive. Interstate provides a real edge in swift communication. Tobias Frere-Jones designed the original fonts in 1993 and 1994.” [Font Bureau, 1993–2004] Originally released by Font Bureau. Moved to Frere-Jones Type in 2020.
