Adobe Serif MM & Adobe Sans MM are specialized multiple
master typefaces made specifically as fallback substitutes in
Adobe Acrobat for documents with otherwise missing or broken fonts.
Most times you see them in public use, it means something has gone
wrong with the design files and the fonts are filling in as
stop-gap replacements. As substitutes for any variety of
missing fonts, their design is intentionally generic and covers a
very large range of weight and width variations.
The fonts haven’t been made available for typical use on their
own, but have been used to fill in the Latin glyphs for some Asian
CJK fonts. They were originally introduced with Adobe Acrobat
