Designed by Hermann Ihlenburg and originally patented by MS&J/ATF in 1894 as Houghton, this typeface was re-released shortly thereafter by Bauer & Co (and later Berthold) in Germany as Edison. PLINC had a phototype version as well as a variant named Willowby Xenotype.
