Originally designed in 1990 by Rick Valicenti and Mouli Marur at
Thirst for
Gilbert Paper’s ESSE [Patric King]. Bronzo
was Thirstype’s first release in April 1992 [Village,
2010], in three weights plus the narrower and top-heavy
Bronzoid Caps. Production by Marur who, according to
Valicenti, is “responsible for the look of the pointed curves”
[King]. Marur also started a lowercase which remained unreleased
[Marur].
Expanded as UltraBronzo with new styles (Inline,
Outline, Fineline) in July 1997. “It has been used widely since its
debut nearly 20 years ago and it has an important place in 1990s
post-modern design.” [Village,
2010] UltraBronzo was discontinued sometime before
2019.
