Bond Shaded is a phototype adaptation of Herman Ihlenburg’s Copperplate (MS&J). Distinguished from the original by hatch lines that reach full width.

Origin unclear. It’s shown in a Lettergraphics catalog (1976, together with an Open style), in Dan X. Solo’s Special Effects and Topical Alphabets (1978), and in Castcraft’s Enyclopedia (1978, with Open and Black styles). The Solotype catalog (1992) shows Bond Shaded, Open, and Black, each in 3 widths. A dry transfer version is shown in Formatt’s Catalog No. 5 (1974) as Broker Shaded.
