The Série no. 16 roman and italic types are first introduced in 12pt in a Deberny & Cie specimen published around 1887. [Mazé] Série no. 17 is a modification with longer ascenders and shorter descenders. [Mazé]

Coen Hofmann’s Seizieme (URW, 2013) and Charles Mazé’s Berthe (ABYME, 2018) are digital interpretations of Série 16.
