    1. According to TechCrunch, Path is currently trying to prevent Pinterest from using its custom designed ‘P’ as an icon.

      This could be a fascinating battle to watch given that US law offers no protection (beyond font software) for alphabets or typeface designs. If one is allowed to use a letter from a typeface as a trademarked logo, perhaps the way for type designers to protect their work is to invent a “brand” for each glyph in their typeface and trademark it as a logo. ;)

    2. If they had clipped off a corner here or there, they might have a stronger position. But I’m glad they didn’t. I hate when people do that. (See http://cuttingedgelogos.tumblr.com)

      No, putting it like this is not accurate. To quote TechCrunch directly:

      Instead, Path is looking here to only stop Pinterest from gaining the design trademark, which it could then use against Path and others if it chose.
