Here’s an older poster designed by Excoffon for Air France. It is shown without a date in Modern Publicity 1959–60 (©1959). The letterforms are handdrawn. While “PARIS—TOKYO” is closely modeled after Chambord Italique, the Air France logo and “via the Pole” feature some proto Antique Olive Compact. The monocular a and the triangular top of t are already in place.
Soon after, the letterforms had matured. The first style of the series, Antique Olive Nord, was released in 1958 or 1959–60, depending on which source you consult. AGI gives an 1965 date for Excoffon’s Air France identity, but that seems to refer to the particular poster depicted on their page.
