Designer René Knip designed a set of poetic 'flags’ that were finished and revealed in 2017, after being commissioned almost ten years before in 2008. Each flag contains lines of text about loss and love, taken from verses by well-known dutch poets, set in Knip’s own Body Stencil, designed for the occasion in 2008 and later published as retail typeface by Arktype.

Knip wanted texts different from the usual gravestone proza and designed a 'kistletter’: a typeface used as stencil to write text on transport cases. The letters are die-cut from corten steel, so they are legible both sunlit and with sunlight behind them. – Tubantia (article in dutch)
