The fictional Moscow Diary – essays on Moscow and Russian culture 1920–x contains a series of essays by philosopher Walter Benjamin (1892 – 1940) about Moscow and Russian culture during the 1920s. The book was adapted from the diaries that Benjamin wrote during his visit to Moscow.

Walter Benjamin paid great attention to the cultural life of Moscow and to art in general during his stay in the city. The author was particularly interested in theater, cinema, and museums. In this book, I decided to select visual material based on paintings and graphics. There are sketches of theatrical performances that Benjamin visited in Moscow, a variety of posters of movies that he saw and other visual content related to Moscow art life of that time. Century Schoolbook was used in the book because it reflects aesthetics of 1920s. It is paired with Merriweather, a contemporary serif that is used for the title on the book cover.
