Poster for Kenneth Branagh’s 1996 film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s play Hamlet, featuring Branagh himself, alongside Julie Christie, Billy Crystal, Gérard Depardieu, Charlton Heston, Derek Jacobi, Jack Lemmon, Rufus Sewell, Robin Williams, and Kate Winslet.
It was designed by Tony Stella for a pitch, but eventually remained unused. His painting of Yorick’s skull is complemented by all-caps typography, using two typefaces released by ITC in the mid 1990s: Othmar Motter’s ITC Motter Corpus (1994) and Phill Grimshaw’s ITC Obelisk (1996).
