Русская музыка (“Russian music”) is an album by Anatoly Nikulin, originally released in 2018 and set to be reissued by Incompetence Records in September 2021. The album consists of cover versions of works by Russian composers from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The reissue got a new album cover featuring the grotesquely transformed photos of Stravinsky, Mussorgsky, Prokofiev, Borodin, Glinka and Anatoly Nikulin himself. The main typeface is Tape Don – a rarely found design by Sylvia Trenker and Hans Donner that was announced by Mecanorma in 1975, however is not included in their 1980 catalog. The accompanying serif is Literaturnaya, a frequently used typeface in the USSR.
