Louise Aleksiejew is a French contemporary visual artist who was born in 1994. Numerous key galleries and museums such as CAC Brétigny have featured Louise Aleksiejew’s work in the past.

With Mauk, Éditions Atrabile has published her first long comic book. Rita, a young and passionate architect, is in trouble: there is someone in her apartment. The signs are there, the presence of the “thing” is undeniable, soon she has to accept the existence of the strangest of roommates: Mauk! Yet Mauk is not easy to find, his uncertain form, his ability to hide, his silence make him a rather discreet creature. Then Mauk starts talking, and even discussing. Between the recalcitrant parasite and the young architect, the relationship will evolve slowly but steady, from stormy to more complicit. They find out what unites them instead of holding on to what divides them.

With an undeniable sense of rhythm and storytelling, curvaceous graphics and tangy colors, Louise Aleksiejew draws a bittersweet comedy in the form of a reflection on loneliness and friendship.

The book is a paperback with flaps, sized 17×24 cm. The text on the 184 inner pages is hand lettered, for the title they are using Antipol.
