Two paperback volumes with reprints of the collected Star Hawks comic strips about the “peace-keeping agents of the Interplanetary Law Service”, with stories by Ron Goulart and art by Gil Kane.

The first one was published in June 1979 (Ace 78150–0, shown above), featuring a chromatic setting of Stark Raving, the shaded style of Phil Martin’s compact sans, released in the early 1970s through his Alphabet Innovations, next to Ed Benguiat’s ITC Bauhaus.

Volume II followed in July 1981 (Ace 17272–0, shown below). The cover typography brings together the Shazam (shaded) and Love (medium) styles of True Critt, designed by Critt Graham and released by Headliners in 1970, supported by Helvetica Condensed.

Ron Goulart died January 14, 2022, the day after his 89th birthday. Mike Glyer wrote an obit for File 770.
