First cast by Stempel in roman and italic styles in 1939. A halbfett followed in 1940. Working title was Chappell Mediaeval. [Reichardt] Completed without Chappell’s involvement, who had to leave Germany in 1939. Adapted for the Linotype in 1941. In 1957, Hermann Zapf added Cyrillics to all 3 styles of the Linotype version. [Weichselbaumer] Later available from VGC.
