Cover for the first edition of Starmind by David Van Arnam (1935–2002).

Benjy Tyler: idiot mind in a beautiful body; Jailyn Rost: very much a female, very rich, and very clever; Joe Winslow: multi-wave expert – caretaker and attendant on Asteroid 770. Whether they knew it or not, these three were linked—and in a way no humans had ever been before them. Only time would tell whether the link destroyed them.

The title typeface is Streamline Block. This design is Franklin Gothic with two groups of five horizontal stripes. It was made by Monotype as series 407, with a limited character set (A–Z only), in a single size of 36pt. Sometime before 1972, VGC adopted it for phototypesetting, with the name shortened to Streamline. Here it’s paired with regular Franklin Gothic.
