“時の断片” is a Japanese word, but seems to be set in Source Hans Sans Simplified Chinese or Noto Sans Simplified Chinese, according to the “断”.

Thank you, Akira! In her talk at Fontstand Conference 2022, Shoko Mugikura showed similar examples of non-Japanese designers getting these crucial details wrong. The best approach to avoid such mishaps as non-native type user is to consult a colleague who is familiar with the script or language at hand. With international type fora and social media, that’s now easier than ever.
It’s good to hear you heard Shoko’s talk.
I agree with you about the best approach.
I recently talked with Shoko about a similar topic.
