Perhaps curiously, it uses a typeface associated with the Amsterdam School.

Nice catch, Sander! The longer Retype’s digital version of the Kurversbrug lettering has been around, the broader the application designers see for it: from “Amsterdam bridges” to “anything early twentieth century Dutch”. Here’s another example. A book about former soccer player Willem van Hanegem. A quintessential Rotterdammer and thus, as the story goes, the ultimate non-Amsterdammer. But on this cover he will have to make do with the same typeface that arch-enemy Ajax wore on their back for years.
