Designer and printer Russell Maret explains his letterpress broadside for the deluxe edition of Parenthesis 29, the Fine Press Book Association’s semi-annual journal:

The print gave me the opportunity to finally work with the fonts of Aleksandra Samulenkova’s Pilot typeface that I have been hoarding for the last couple of years. Pilot won the titling face category in the FPBA’s 2013 Student Type Design Competition and, as part of the prize, the face was engraved and cast as a new metal typeface by Ed Rayher at Swamp Press & Typefoundry.

The text on the poster is a Stanley Morison quote, from his book Four Centuries of Fine Printing.

    1. Pilot is so sick. Looks a bit odd with no kerning, and I’m sure some design decisions would have been different if this was a known constraint from the beginning, but still… Pilot is so sick.
