Born May 24, 1943 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Lived in the Bay Area since 1951. Attended City College of San Francisco where he majored in commercial art. Politically involved as Revolutionary Artist and then Minister of Culture for the Black Panther party from February 1967 until the early 1980s. Work has appeared in museums and galleries all over the world and was published in the 2007 book, Black Panther, The Revolutionary Art of Emory Douglas. AIGA Medalist and RISD’s MLK Honoree.
