A phototype design of unclear origin. Bold sans-serif caps with a burst pattern in each glyph. No lowercase. Alternate “lazy” ‘S’. Shown as Burst Caps in Lettergraphics’ 1976 catalog (but not yet in the 1969 edition). Also shown in Dan X. Solo’s Special Effects and Topical Alphabets (Dover, 1978) as Burst. Used already in 1970.
Digitized by David Rakowski as Starburst (1990, extended by Dieter Steffmann in 2000). There is also another, more complete digitization by Dan X. Solo named Burst (1999, used for sample).
