Ancient Shaded (with line shade, used for sample) originated at Farmer in c. 1870. [Reichardt/Hoefer] Elsewhere, Reichardt states that Ancient with Ancient Shaded originated at Johnson in c. 1870. [Reichardt 2011] Note however that Johnson became MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan in 1867.

The unshaded version was digitized by Tim Ryan as Ancient Text (Type Revivals, 1992, discontinued?).
