A variant of Benguiat Serendipity with bifurcated serifs. Shown in Photo-Lettering’s One Line catalog (1971) in three widths. Used already in 1970. While the regular and condensed styles are named Benguiat Indian, the wide one is listed as Benguiat Buffalo Ornamental Wide. Benguiat Buffalo is a rounded variant, but this ornamental style isn’t rounded.
A digital version of the wide style, Benguiat Buffalo Ornamental, was made by Mark Davis for Ben Kiel during an internship at Typefounding, based on Donald Roos’s digitization of Benguiat Buffalo [Davis]. Unreleased as of 2023.
