“The Houghton Library at Harvard University commissioned the typeface Elli from calligrapher Jean Evans. This energetic script is based on the handwriting of Eleanor Garvey, the Houghton’s famed and much-loved librarian. Upon her retirement in 1991, the Library presented Elli with her own private typeface for her private use. With her willing permission, Font Bureau’s designers then adapted it for general use” – Font Bureau, 1993.
Discontinued after Font Bureau canceled many of its legacy fonts from its catalog with the launch of Type Network.
