Eclipse Shaded (shown) originated at Barnhart Brothers & Spindler in 1882. A shadowless style followed in 1884 [Reichardt 2011]. Eclipse Shaded was patented March 14, 1882 [Inland Printer]. Eclipse with Eclipse No. 2 (?) was patented by Charles E. Heyer for Barnhart Brothers & Spindler April 15, 1884 [Saxe 2015]. Note that the sample uses a ‘p’ from a smaller size.
