Designed in 1950 as a heavy supplement to Michelangelo and first named Aurelia Titling [MyFonts]. First cast by Stempel in 1951. Sistina was originally an all-caps font, with narrow alternates for ‘L’, ‘R’, ‘T’, and an alternate ‘Q’ with descending cauda.
The digital Sistina contains small caps but lacks some alternates. Reworked as Palatino nova Imperial which contains the alternates that were lost in previous digital versions.
