Designed by Friedel Thomas (1895–1956) and issued by Typoart posthumously in 1958. [Klingspor-Museum] The series includes Thomas-Schrift (8–12pt) and the caps-only Thomas-Versalien (16–24pt). [Typoart specimen, mid-1960s] The latter is distinguished by wider proportions and slightly different details (see especially ‘GJQR’).
“Redesigned and extended, for vintage use” by Ralph Unger as Thomasschrift (RMU, 2014). This revival appears to combine the lowercase of Thomas-Schrift with the caps from Thomas-Versalien. The alternate ‘A’ with top left bar is included as swash variant. Coen Hofmann did another digital revival (URW, 2015, used for the sample) that spans both styles.
