Future Shapers

Future Shapers is a three day forum for future leaders organised by Australian National University. Code and Visual commissioned Harley Johnston Design to create a brand identity and website design for the very first Future Shapers forum. Future Shaper is an invite-only event that brings together speakers from the public and private sectors including Ms Yassmin Abdel Magied, Ken Henry, Gareth Evans and many more. The forum will be going paperless for communications and instead use the website and app for updates. This coupled with the name lead to the idea of sketching with fingers on digital devices, which in turn lead to the swirls ending in a fingerprint displayed in bright digital colours.

The Future Shapers website presents all the essential information for the website in an interesting but functional format. Animations and transitions were used to create a website that is far from conventional but still supplies information in a refreshing way. To reinforce the human touch idea when users interact with certain elements of the site on mobile devices an unexpected surprise is delivered.

GT Walsheim was used for headlines and brings a friendly edge to the usually dry area of conferences. Guardian Egyptian Text was chosen for body copy to add an easy to read serif that also brings some seriousness.
