This leaflet advertising a self-service restaurant in Paris features a smorgasbord of iconic mid-century typefaces from France. The bulk of the text is in Adrian Frutiger’s Univers, created at Deberny & Peignot between the late 1950s and early 1960s. One has to appreciate the effort the typesetter put into getting the non-French characters somehow right, see ä, ö, Ø, Å! Prices are emphasized with Roger Excoffon’s Antique Olive Nord (1959). At the top, there’s another typeface by Excoffon, his debut Chambord. While the address is in the bold weight (1946), the title uses caps from the condensed Chambord étroite (1948). The first line is in an unidentified script with similarities to Ariston Bold.
