The book KOLLEKTSIA! Art contemporain en URSS et en Russie (1950–2000) presents the universe of Russian contemporary art, with paintings, sculptures, photographs, albums, drawings of major artists that shed light on the Russian art, across political, poetical and artistic references. Michelines, the designers of the book chose Balkan Sans, a typeface made for the transliteration of Cyrillic and Latin, designed to render the sounds of Serbian and Croatian in single unified glyphs. While Serbian and Croatians languages are morphologically very close, making Balkan Sans work for Russian took updating the fonts, and coming up with more romanization schemes, that are now available as Stylistic Sets.

The book accompanies the exhibition at the Centre Pompidou, published by Éditions Xavier Barral.
