This is a simple sign with a simple message: ‘We’re closed’.
The typeface, Odalisque by Nick Curtis, is based on Morris Fuller Benton’s Chic (1928), of which no faithful digital rendering is available. In terms of letter shapes, Odalisque is quite close to Chic (though minor divergences exist); the main difference is that Chic is an inline design, whereas Odalisque has solid letters. Looking closely, we also notice a divergence between out-of-the-box Odalisque and the sign: The ogonek in the font as sold on MyFonts is a hook that, while tiny, still exceeds the right boundary of the E (thereby managing to neglect most of the recommendations Adam Twardoch gives for designing ogoneks). On this sign, the default ogonek has been replaced by a larger one that stays within the boundaries of the base. It has a lacrimal terminal that is found in none of the base letters, but fits the style of the typeface fairly well: a small change, but a substantial improvement.
