According to Calyx, Soft Machine played the auditorium Paul-Emile Janson on January 14, 1971 (Vernon Fitch has the same info), and again on February 10, 1976 (they were still in Belgium on the 13th, with no concert listed for the 14th). In 1975, the band played in nearby Amsterdam on Jan. 13 (no gig listed for the 14th). However, another online pop chronicle, Memoire Rock 60/70, mentions a concert at the venue in Brussels on Jan. 14, 1975. An eBay listing of this poster gives a 1974 date – if Calyx/Fitch are correct, Soft Machine were in Canada at that time.
A 1971 date is not out of the question, but that would be a very early appearance of Puff Wind. This face was included in Mecanorma’s Letter-Press New Type Series 6, which was advertised together with Series 7 in July 1973 (Series 1 and 2 were advertised in June 1972). In short, I concur with your dating, Robert: 1975 strikes me as a more likely date for this poster.
