This cover was designed for Sir András Schiff’s book, titled A zene a csendből jön (“Music Comes from Silence”). Schiff is a Hungarian-born British musician, classical pianist and conductor. Published by Magvető Kiadó 2018.
For the author’s name, the capital A of Aveny-T was modified, in order to play along with the vertically extended glyphs that evoke the vibrations of music and strings. Secondary information is set in italics from Bodoni.
This book cover was included in the 2018 list of “50 Books | 50 Covers”, an annual design competition by Aiga and Design Observer that aims to identify “the 50 best-designed books and book covers”.
