Originally released in 1964 on Crown Records as Sweet Leilani, this cover was made for a later re-release on Custom Records, a budget sublabel of Modern/Crown Records. Chances are it was put together around the same time and by the same designer as Exotic Sounds Of Hawaii (1969). At least it follows the same recipe: A photo of an anonymous woman with opened lips – seriously? Is this the only way to market “exotic” music they could think of in the 1960s? 🙄 – in front of some flora, with the type placed at the top center, in multiple colors, all caps, and with ornate framing, album title in Hobo, band name in a wide serif, and track names in a sans serif, here Eurostile.
