This early (perhaps first?) paperback edition of Stanley Milgram’s famous psychological treatise comes via the always excellent jell-o biafra says tumblr. ITC Grouch usually presents with a goofy innocuousness, but doesn’t it seem just a touch menacing here? Its prickly triangular head serifs almost seem like two-dimensional abstractions of medieval melee weapons … Cover design is credited to Sidney Feinberg. The Harper Torchbooks wordmark and catalog number are set in italic caps from Futura.
The same design was already used for the dust jacket of the first hardcover edition, published by Harper & Row the year before.
