Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion – “WAP” single
I’ve said before that type, like music, sparks conversation. At Plau, our mission is “to make fonts and type as pop as music”, but I never would have guessed that could mean Tenez on the cover of the next Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion collaboration.
Time and time again I think Tenez is picked up by what sets it apart, namely the organic shapes and the quirky letter R (thanks Lucas Campoi, for forcing me to go out of my comfort zone and keep it as default… you changed my life!).
The mix of elegant photography and minimalist typographic setting plus the iconic styles of Cardi and Meg make for a truly stunning cover. And the styling, especially the hairstyle is… Just. Wow.
It’s interesting to imagine the thought process in choosing the typeface. Was it defined by the photographic direction? Would it be pretentious to think the photo came from the type? Maybe I’m getting way over my head, but to see how they interact, how they work together, makes me thrilled to see how Tenez could be used next.
