For over five decades, celebrated Seattle architect Jim Olson has been exploring the relationships between art, architecture and nature. Olson’s attention to art, craft and experiential architecture has led to an international following, especially among art enthusiasts and collectors. His residences for art collectors are unique in the world. Jim Olson: Art in Architecture offers an intimate glimpse into the life and career of this architect. Through journal sketches, personal observations and images of built projects ranging from his wilderness cabin to museums and religious buildings to grand residences for art collectors worldwide, the reader gains insight into the philosophy and ideas behind the architecture.

The volume features a preface by noted design scholar R Craig Miller, curator of design at The Indianapolis Museum of Art, and an essay by arts and architecture critic Ted Loos.
