First edition of Honey Holler, a play in three acts by Keith MacKaye, notable at the time for its African American protagonist and the use of dialect speech. Published in 1930 by Brentano’s, New York, with woodcut illustrations by the author. The dust jacket uses Parsons Bold, a typeface designed by Will Ransom for Barnhart Brothers & Spindler in 1918. It’s here used without any of its notorious oversize ascenders and descenders.
