A bold instance of Frank Frazetta’s jacket illustrations for Edgar Rice Burroughs’ “John Carter of Mars” adventure novels, which helped revive the character in the late 1960s/early 1970s, here paired with a classic “psychedelic” font, Scorpio, which seems to hint at the many shag-carpeted and airbrushed vans whose sides were so often, in that era, illuminated with Frazetta facsimiles. This is the Book Club edition published by Nelson Doubleday in 1972. The interior has black-and-white illustrations by Frazetta, too.
