Die Erfindung der Hausfrau is a cultural history of the housewife. Subtitled “History of a devaluation”, the book by Evke Rulffes gives an account of division of labor, role models, and tipped power relations, and is a plea for more justice and appreciation of care and domestic work.
The book jacket was designed by Lübbeke Naumann Thoben, using an image by Stefanie Naumann. The title is set in Cormorant, with all-caps Novecento Sans Wide for author name and secondary title.
