Le Houloc. Portrait·s d’atelier·s
Le Houloc is a non-profit organisation founded in 2016 by a group of artists, mostly graduates of the Beaux-Arts de Paris. A year later, the collective moved into a former carpentry shop, located in Aubervilliers. Today the organisation is composed of seventeen permanent members and regularly hosts other artists to take up temporary residencies.
The edition Le Houloc, Portrait·s d’atelier·s, coordinated by Thomas Fort, art critic and curator, consists of texts and visuals presenting the member artists and the organisation itself. It is also the result of the work of Théo Miller, who realized the graphic design, and the photographer Adrien Thibault, who produced the images from the closing portfolio that unfolds, through details, each individual workspace. Preceded by a foreword about the challenges of a collective workshop in contemporary art, the works of the seventeen artists are presented in such a way as to meet on the first and last double-pages of each portrait, in reference to the proximity of the different workspaces in the workshop. Body text and subtitles are set in LL Bradford (Laurenz Brunner, Lineto) paired with Round (Bureau Brut) for headlines, captions and footnotes. 175×255 mm, 208 pages, December 2021.
