Chaotic yet Connected is a workbook with focus on various aspects of the design process and the many steps using print and press production methods to create physical outputs. It presents historical ways of graphic-industry manufacturing, together with contemporary methods of print-oriented creations designed with software and the computer. The workbook also includes chapters on basic typographic rules and terminology, grid structures, paper selection, folds, and binding processes. This project was designed under the guidance of Professor Joshua Unikel at the University of Houston.
The design uses Cholla Sansand Cholla Slab, two sub-families from the Cholla typeface family, with Helvetica for body text. Designed in 1998–99 by Sibylle Hagmann, Cholla is named after a species of cactus indigenous to the Mojave Desert.
