Even when she was still very young, artist Lida van der Vlist was fascinated by the hidden beauty in old objects. Her collection started with discarded objects that came across her path by chance, later Lida also started looking for specific objects. The search for this material, which has been collected for years, fueled by the need to breathe new life into the collection. She decided to literally give the objects a new face, which led to the creation of her ‘Familiar Faces’. The works of art are no longer with their maker. That is why all ‘Familiar Faces’ are brought together again in this overview work as in a family album.
