The Los Angeles Times has some fun with numeral punctuation as it ponders a seventh game in the NBA championship series. Read more about the newspaper’s design.

    1. “SPORTS” is set in Victoria Titling, according to this PDF:
      www.trbas.com/media/media/a…

It seems Victoria Titling was originally V&A Titling (aka Victoria & Albert Titling), which was designed by Matthew Carter for V&A in 1979.

    2. I asked Matthew Carter about Victoria Titling and V&A Titling.

      He wrote:

I drew a titling face for a series of gallery guides designed by Derek Birdsall for the Victoria & Albert Museum in 1979.

I afterwards digitized the drawings and the resulting font was used by Roger Black for section headings in the Los Angeles Times.

I also heard from him that Victoria Titling is not available for licensing.
